Description

Vine maple is a medium to large, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub generally found growing in the understory in shade to part-shade, but occasionally in full sun with adequate moisture. Inconspicuous but interesting flowers bloom in the spring and winged seeds occur in the fall. Vine maple is a larval host plant for numerous butterflies, including the Western tiger swallowtail. It is pollinated by a diversity of pollinators, including many species of bee. Vine maple puts on a spectacular fall color display.

Vine maple (Acer circinatum) seed packets contain approximately 25 seeds. This species has fairly large seeds.

Seed Germination Instructions
