Description
A familiar native sunflower with bright yellow flowers, deltoid balsamroot is not only pretty, but it is drought-tolerant and tough as well. A deep taproot allows balsamroot to grow in some of the most inhospitable, sun-baked, and dry locations, at various elevations and within various habitat types. Attractive to many types of pollinators, deltoid balsamroot also produces seed loved by birds and other native wildlife. Deltoid balsamroot was historically used by Native tribes for both food and medicine, and is still used today. Although deltoid balsamroot can initially be slow growing from seed, once established it will surely bring a smile to your face when you enjoy the cheerful, early summer flowers.
