Description

Native to southern Oregon and northern California, white rushlily inhabits wet meadows, bogs, springs and rocky seeps. Easily adapted to the garden environment, white rushlily will thrive in full sun to part-shade in an area that stays moist through early summer. It can tolerate dry conditions in the later half of the summer. Throughout its range white rushlily seed can be incorporated into wet meadow seed mixes for habitat restoration. Although white rushlily plants take up to five years to flower if grown from seed, once the flowering stage occurs your patience will pay off in the form of gorgeous stalks of white flowers that pollinators love, especially bumble bees. Growing from a bulb, white rushlily can reach three feet in height. Hastingsia used to be classified in the lily family, Liliaceae, but it has since been moved to the Agavaceae, the agave family. Flowering occurs in May and June at lower elevations.

White rushlily (Hastingsia alba) seed packets contain approximately 70 seeds.
