Description

Siskiyou lewisia is a must-have wildflower species for native plant enthusiasts of all kinds. Emblematic of the Klamath-Siskiyou Mountains, Siskiyou lewisia is a cheerful yet tough perennial wildflower in the purslane family. To survive in the harsh, rocky or scree locations that it inhabits, Siskiyou lewisia has a deep taproot and fleshy, succulent leaves that grow in evergreen basal rosettes. Generally growing 4″-10″, showy flower clusters can vary in color that range from the most common white and pink candy-stripes, to the less common solid orange, yellow, pink, or white. Siskiyou lewisia prefers rocky, sandy or other fast draining soils. Once established Siskiyou lewisia is drought tolerant and easy to grow. It will flower best in full sun with occasional summer water, but will also tolerate part-shade when grown at low elevations. Siskiyou lewisia is perfect for rock gardens where it will add delight to your garden without much effort. Use plenty of fine gravel, sand or grit mixed with the soil at planting time. Bloom time is April through June. Siskiyou lewisia flowers are used by a wide variety of native pollinators.

Siskiyou lewisia (Lewisia cotyledon) seed packets contain approximately 160 seeds per packet.
