Description

A cheerful annual wildflower in the broomrape family found in dry, sunny and open habitats, often on slopes or ridgelines, at mid to high elevations. The slender, branched stem grows 5″- 1′ tall, topped with round-headed, cylindrical spikes of green bracts with pink tips. Between the bracts grow fuzzy purple-pink flowers with a lower pouched lip and upper straight beak. Blooms June-August depending on elevation. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Perfect for a rock garden. Attractive to native bees and other pollinators.

Seed Germination Instructions

90 days cold-moist stratification. Sow outside in fall.
