Description

Claspleaf twistedstalk is a moisture-loving native beauty and perennial wildflower. The leaves encircle the stems and have a kink in them that gives a twisted, zig-zag appearance, hence the common name twistedstalk. A widely distributed plant throughout North America, twistedstalk grows in moist and shaded habitat, mainly along streams in the Klamath-Siskiyou region. It has greenish-white flowers that are used by various pollinators, and then large red berries in late summer that hang from the leaf axils like ornaments. Often the berries hang right over the water and drop into the stream when ripe, and water flow helps disperse the seeds. Twistedstalk is a  gorgeous and stately rhizomatous species for a moist location or for a shade or woodland garden with moist soil that is high in organic matter

Claspleaf twistedstalk (Streptopus amplexifolius) seed packets contain approximately 70 seeds per packet.
