Description

Who doesn’t love California poppies? These well known and much-loved wildflowers are the state flower of California. The 4-petaled, 3″ diameter, bright-orange flowers can look like a sea of orange when grown en masse, a boon for hungry pollen-loving bees. Native bees are the primary pollinator of California poppies. Poppies do not produce nectar and are, therefore, not attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds, or other nectar eating insects. Easy to grow from seed in poor to average, well-drained soil in full sun. Sow seeds in the fall for springtime germination. Drought tolerant and deer resistant.

California poppy (Eschscholzia californica) seed packets contain approximately 240 seeds.

Seed Germination Instructions

30 days cold-moist stratification. Sow outside in fall or early spring.
