Description

Typically growing 1′-4′ tall, Calfornia brome is a native bunchgrass that is tolerant of many soil types, including clay. With a range that extends from Alaska to northern Mexico, California brome grows in many different habitat types in sun to part-shade. An important wildlife plant, California brome is attractive to birds and insects that eat the seeds, and it is a larval host plant for numerous butterfly species that use native grasses as larval host plants. It is drought tolerant and wind pollinated.

California brome (Bromus carinatus) seed packets contain approximately 75 seeds.
